Senior Agronomist

Currently working with a full-service agronomy company serving farmers from planting to harvest, providing farmers with the products and service needed to achieve desired results. They are one of the most well known providers of natural fertilizers.
Job Objective:
To engage in relationship-building, provide competent crop and soil evaluations, and participate in the active and consistent sale of all products and services marketed and sold by the company.
Job Description:
The Certified Crop Consultant or Agronomist is a highly motivated member of the customer"s crop production team. He or she assists the customer in crop management by evaluating soil quality, assessing environmental and economic conditions, and creating plans and strategies for seed, fertilizer, planting, and pest control leading to increased yield. He or she is a problem solver who listens and provides the best advice possible.
Bachelor"s degree in Agronomy, Crop or Soil Science, or related agricultural discipline required; Proof of college degree mandatory

  • Background in farming and agriculture highly desired

  • 3-5+ years of advanced agricultural sales and field experience required

  • Responsibilities for this position include starting new customer accounts and maintaining current customer relations

  • Sell natural fertilizer, liquid fertilizer, crop scouting & consulting, write recommendations

  • Trouble shooting and problem solving crop management issues

  • Create plans and strategies for seed, fertilizer, planting, and pest control

  • Strong understanding of conventional and unconventional fertilizers

  • Irrigated Agriculture experience and soil fumigation

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Excellent decision-making skills and the ability to make good judgment calls

  • Exceptional record keeping and reporting skills

  • Desire to contribute to the improvement of processes and procedures

  • Ability to identify redundancies and reduce waste

  • Possess high levels of confidentiality and trustworthiness

  • Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with others

Required Licenses:

Chemical Applicator with Endorsements & HAZMAT; Class A CDL desired
Special Skills:

Agricultural sales experience is required for this position.

General Manager

Currently working with a growth-oriented, diversified and vertically-integrated company with operations spanning across grain trading, handling and merchandising, as well as crop inputs, flour milling and feed mills.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
• Overseeing the binning, blending grading of grain 
• Maintaining compliance with all food safety documentation (i.e. HCCAP, C-TPAT) 
• Monitoring and maintaining proper profit loss and inventory management 
• Quality reporting sales projections 
• Monitoring market developments competition 
• Providing management coaching to staff and general human resource management 
• Managing preventative maintenance program 
• Annual facility budgeting planning 
• PL responsibilities 
• Customer service public relations 
• 5-7 years involvement in the operation of a grain elevator facility 
• Diploma or Degree in business, agriculture or certification in a related trade 
• Certified Crop Advisor, P. Ag., or related designation an asset 
• Previous experience in a management position 
• Previous experience in customer relations and sales 
• Knowledge of threats to storing grain and oilseed 
• Knowledge and understanding of the grain business, markets, pricing, world trends 
• Strong decision-making and problem solving skills 
• Ability to lead, coach, and mentor staff 
• Ability to delegate 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
